Development applications north of Taunton Road

Kedron subdivisions continue through approvals

The City of Oshawa's development activity memo to Council (February 11, 2026) lists residential subdivisions being advanced through the approvals process in the Kedron Part II Planning Area, and several Kedron subdivisions as draft-approved but not yet registered in full — including Heights of Harmony Phase 2. For buyers, draft approval is the step that turns a planned neighbourhood into homes you can actually buy.

School-site planning east of Harmony Road North

A City report on amending the Taunton Part II Plan and Zoning By-law 60-94 covers lands east of Harmony Road North, south of Greenhill Avenue — where planning for a separate secondary school site has shaped the surrounding land use, with the school board seeking as large a site as possible. School sites drive where families want to live, and this one sits in the heart of the new north-Oshawa growth area.

Harmony Road corridor: the Kedron plan itself

The Kedron Part II Plan — the planning framework for the lands around Harmony Road North, Conlin Road East and Winchester Road East — was advanced through official plan and zoning amendments and a draft plan of subdivision for lands at 2466 and 2651 Harmony Road North. If you are buying in this corridor, this is the document that sets what gets built around you.

School news parents care about

Two new North Oshawa schools opened this September

Cedar Valley Secondary School (245 Windfields Farm Drive East, capacity 1,387) and Waaban Public School (2495 Steeplechase Street, capacity 634) welcomed students for the 2026–2027 school year. Cedar Valley is named for the nearby conservation area; "Waaban" means dawn in Anishinaabemowin. For Windfields and Kedron families, this ends years of busing kids to schools kilometres away.

New Kedron Catholic school: boundaries set for September 2027

The Durham Catholic District School Board's new Kedron Catholic elementary school is anticipated to open in September 2027, with boundaries approved June 16, 2025. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 7 inside the new boundary will attend the new school; families of Grade 7 students will be surveyed during the 2026–2027 school year about Grade 8 graduation. Boundaries for St. Anne, St. John Bosco and St. Kateri Tekakwitha are all affected — check the board's maps if you are buying in the area.
